Make something mod with Grandma's doilies! If you don't already have some on hand, doilies are easy to find in thrift shops. And this project turns these old fashioned decorations into something stylish and unexpected!

Materials & Tools
- Lace or crocheted doily
- Glue
- Water
- Food coloring
- Plastic wrap
- Bowls
- Table salt

Instructions

Put a few drops of food coloring into about 1 cup of water. Use more drops for saturated hues and fewer for paler hues. Add about 1 tablespoon of salt and dissolve it in the water. This will help the doily pick up the food color.

Fold your doily in half as many times as you can and dip the ends into the color. Add more food color or dip as many times as you need to get the desired result.

Lay it out to completely dry, most likely for a full day. If you don't want to dye your doily, skip the previous steps.

Place your bowls upside down and cover with a layer of plastic wrap. Take your dry doily and soak it in a 50/50 mixture of white glue and water. Soak the doily until it's completely drenched in the mixture.

Using the plastic-covered bowl as the mold, place the wet and gluey doily over the dome. You'll want it to hug the bowl closely for the best shape.

Let it sit for about 24 hours. Once it's completely dry, gently remove the hardened doily from the plastic wrapped bowl. Grandma will be impressed.
